Feng Shui and numbers

feng shui and numbers

In matters of Lucky numbers, Kua numbers or even Magic numbers, there is a tight bond between Feng Shui and numerology. The numbers taken from that discipline are deeply useful, most notably the Kua number that is the very basis of the art of Feng Shui.

What is Feng-Shui?

Literally, Feng-Shui means wind and water. It is a millennia-old Chinese art that was mainly established during the Song Dynasty in China (between 960 and 1279AD), even if some hints about the use of Feng Shui in the Chinese province can be traced back as far as 4000BC.

It aims to create harmony between the energies of a house and home in order to enhance well-being and prosperity. The art of Feng Shui is based upon mastery of some invisible life energy that the Chinese call Chi (or “Qi”).

It is the cosmic energy running through our bodies and through everything else in the Universe. It can be found everywhere, including where we live: our homes, our office buildings, etc.

While it is invisible, “Chi” is very real. This energy flow surrounds us and enables us to live. It is just like the oxygen you are breathing: it is just as essential, like the Chakras .

Kua numbers and Feng Shui

The Kua number is the foremost Feng Shui number. It is also called Life number or even Magic number.

Any person has a specific Kua Number and it can help to identify positive or negative trends for the layout of your home, both inside and outside, and that of your working environment.

As such, the Kua Numbers can showcase favorable positions in your home but the principles of Feng Shui are also valid in the workplace. This magical Number can also give you some information about the colors you need to choose, or where your guests should sit during a dinner party.

Calculate your own Kua Number

The calculation of your Kua Number is based on your year of birth according to the Chinese calendar. Accordingly, if you were born before the Chinese New Year, you need to refer to the year before your date of birth.

You must also learn that the calculation of the Kua Number is different for men and women.

How to calculate the Kua Number for a man?

  • Add the last two digits of the year of birth
  • Reduce the result to get a number between 1 and 9
  • Subtract your result from 10. Exception: for young men born in the year 2000 and beyond, you need to subtract your result from 9.

Example :
George was born on December 1st 1967.
6+7 = 13
1+3 = 4
10-4 = 6
> George’s Kua number is 6

Special case:The number 5 does not exist in the study of Feng Shui. If you get the number 5 when you calculate a man’s Kua Number, you should use the number 2 instead.

Example :
Robert was born on July 16th 1977.
7+7 = 14
1+4 = 5
> Number 5 does not exist in Feng Shui studies, Robert must replace it with the number 2
10 -2 = 8
>  Robert’s Kua Number is 8

How to calculate the Kua Number for a woman?

  • Add the last two digits of the year of birth
  • Reduce the result to get a number between 1 and 9
  • Add 5 to your result. Exception: for young women born in the year 2000 and beyond, you need to add 6 to your result.

Example:
Jane was born on August 5th 1978.
7+8 = 15
1+5 = 6
5+6 = 11
1+1 = 2
>  Jane’s Kua Number is 2

Special case:As we have seen before, the number 5 does not exist in the study of Feng Shui. If you get the number 5 when you calculate a woman’s Kua Number, you should replace it with the number 8.

Example:
Nina was born on April 18th 1968.
6+8 = 14
1+4 = 5
>  Number 5 does not exist in Feng Shui studies, Nina must use the number 8
5+8 = 13
1+3 = 4
>  Nina’s Kua number is 4

Lucky numbers in Feng Shui

In the art of Feng Shui and more broadly through Chinese numerology, you can also find lucky numbers.

These can enhance calm and serenity like the number 6, or even prosperity like the lucky number 8.

As for the Feng Shui lucky number 9, it radiates infinity and durability.
